Six rules for our digital age

By Cole Ryan

The underlying message behind most modern technology – from personal devices and vehicles to next-day shipping and on-demand entertainment – is that our individual preferences are of utmost importance and that our will and desires are to always be trusted.

Below are some of the rules and disciplines I try to follow in order to push back on that message.

  2. Say no to yourself
  3. Force yourself to wait for things
  4. Observe a digital Sabbath
  5. Fast often
  6. Pursue challenges and hardship
